 A BIG Thank You!

Thank you to all who attended our EES Harvest Festival!  It was wonderful to see so much of the community out and enjoying this great event!  A special THANK YOU to the Families For Everson volunteers and EES staff volunteers. These hard-working, creative people made this year's event AMAZING!!
VETERAN'S DAY ASSEMBLY - WE WANT TO HONOR YOUR VETERANS!
We will be having our Veteran's Day Assembly on Friday, Nov. 8 at 2:30.   As part of the assembly we will be honoring Veterans by showing a slide show of pictures of Veteran's from the families of our staff and students.  If you would like to have a Veteran loved one included in the slide show, please send a digital copy to
richelle.newton@nv.k12.wa.us.  Include their full name, relation to your student, and what branch of the military they served in.  If you sent a picture last year, we still have those and will honor your loved ones again!  If you are not sure if you provided one, please send a Parent Square message to Richelle Newton.
Everyone is invited to attend this assembly.

Halloween is Coming!
At Everson Elementary, the celebration of non-Federal holidays, such as Halloween, are decided by each teacher. If your child will be participating in a school Halloween party, and they choose to wear a costume, please have your child bring the costume to school to dress up later in the day. Please remember that fake weapons of any kind are not permitted, and costumes must be “friendly” in nature. Holidays of this nature include activities that build positive memories and foster a family atmosphere.

If you want to attend your child's classroom PARTY, you must have approved Volunteer paperwork on file and let the teacher know ahead of time.  We will have our annual Halloween parade at 2:20. ALL parents are invited to come and line the hallway parade route. You will be required to sign in at the office.   If you plan to pick up your child after school, please send them with a PINK NOTE and after the parade you will need to return to your car and use our pickup line process.

If you do not wish your child to participate in Halloween festivities, there will be an alternative space and activities available.  Please let your child's teacher know.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher or the office.

BIKING FUN AND SAFTEY DURING EES PE CLASSES
3rd-5th grade students have been learning about pedestrian and bike safety through a hands-on experience in PE! Some students learned how to ride a bike for the first time during the unit. There were four different styles/sizes of bikes and students had autonomy to choose the bike that works best for them. Each day students rode on a different course designed to teach them specific skills. Over the past few weeks students have learned about:
Safely crossing a street
Ensuring their helmet fits correctly
Passing others safely while riding a bike
Riding side by side with others safely on a trail
Signaling when turning
Identifying the names of bike parts
Identifying street signs and what they mean
The importance of being visible and predictable

If you have a 3rd-5th grade student, I encourage you to ask them what they learned during the bike unit! A big thanks goes to Cascade Bicycle Club for providing the bikes and helmets for our students to use!

Annual Student Updates
We need your help!  To assure that we have accurate and current information about your student(s) and family, we ask that you log in to your Skyward Family Access account and complete the Annual Student Update Online form there. You will find the Annual Student Update "tile" under each of your students' names. Please do this for each student.  This is also where you would provide your permissions for the sharing (or not sharing) of your student's demographic information to various entities/agencies (such as pictures, name and grade to local media, vendors, higher ed, military, etc.) If you need help with your Skyward login, please contact the school office staff.  Thank you!
ASB Cards Available
Elementary ASB Cards are available in the school office for $11.  Cards provide entrance to all Nooksack Valley High School home sporting events.
