Free and Reduced Meal Status

School Year 23/24 Free and Reduced Meal Approval

MEALS WILL CONTINUE TO BE OFFERED TO ALL NV STUDENTS AT NO COST THIS SCHOOL YEAR 24/25!

NV will be operating the Community Eligibility Provision  (CEP) program this school year.  This program allows all NV Students to receive meals at no cost while on campus.  Every student is allowed one breakfast and one lunch meal each school day while on campus.

For families that don't automatically qualify for Free & Reduced Meals status by way of Direct Certification*: We ask (not required) you to fill out a Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit  (CNEED) APPLICATION .

The CNEEB Application helps us collect the economic demographics of our non-directly certified households with students attending CEP schools.  Without this information, Nooksack Valley School District could lose important state funding for educational programs that our students are entitled to.  IF you CNEEB is approved it can reduced or waive fees for ASB, School Activity, or other community programs

*Directly Certified means students are automatically approved for Free & Reduced Meal status from the State database, which is based on SNAP, TANF, FOSTER, MIGRANT, or MEDICARE recipients. OR students qualify as Migrant, McKinney-Vento, or Foster Children through an NV support liaison.

  • Directly Certified students aren't required and shouldn't fill out a Family Income survey.
  • Students who are directly certified with Free & Reduced Meal status will still receive a Meal Status approval letter

CONSENT TO SHARE FORM-  If your student is qualified for free or reduced meals, you may be eligible for certain fee waivers or fee reductions to participate in other school and/or community programs.

  • In order to allow NV Food Services to share your child's approval status for Free & Reduced meals, you must give written consent.  This will allow us to share only your approval status and only with very specific NV district department activities representatives who can process the fee reduction or waivers.
  • This Form is optional for fee waiver or reduction purposes only.
  • Is available digitally through your family access account.
